The Wellhead Protection Program is a management plan designed and administered by the City.  The plan helps ensure that the area in and around the Eastbank Aquifer is maintained in a manner that will protect this valuable resource.  The plan also addresses activities around the emergency wells located in East Wenatchee.  Businesses and residents in these areas are updated regularly on issues pertaining to safe business practices and the proper response to potential threats to the health of the aquifer.

All residents can take the following steps to protect our water quality:

  • Apply pesticides and fertilizers only when needed, and follow the directions on the label
  • Repair vehicles leaking automotive fluids
  • Clean up leaks or spills
  • Pick up pet waste and dispose in the garbage
  • Dispose of hazardous products properly (for more information click here)
  • Homes and businesses served by a septic tank and drain field should ensure the septic tank is inspected and pumped on a regular schedule (for more formation visit www.epa.gov/septic)
