Mike Poirier was elected Mayor of the City of Wenatchee in the 2023 general election. He began his term as Mayor on January 1, 2024. He previously served on the Wenatchee City Council from 2016-2019 and 2022-2023.

Mayor Poirier is committed to public service and serving the citizens of Wenatchee. Mayor Poirier’s priorities include seeing that the state and federally funded Confluence Parkway project is successfully completed, and bringing other agencies and jurisdictions together working on mutual projects to benefit our region. “It is with great respect and honor to work with our Federal and State representatives to continue to bring value to our City of Wenatchee citizens with transparency and consistency.”

Mayor Poirier recently retired as the President of CPW Insurance. He had a career of 28 years in the insurance industry. He and his wife, Maureen (a retired educator), have been married for 37 years and have three daughters (two are educators for Wenatchee area schools and one is working towards an engineering degree) and three grandchildren. He grew up in Wenatchee and graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1982, and from Eastern Washington University in 1986 with a degree in Recreation & Leisure Services and a minor in Business Administration. He enjoys spending time with his family, hiking on the beautiful trails in our region and fishing at Lake Chelan.

Mayor Poirier has received multiple awards, the most memorable award being the “Mutual Good Award” presented to him by the CEO/President of a major company. The “Mutual Good Award” is presented annually to one person in the state of Washington or Oregon who is “Successful in making a difference in their community; upholds the highest ethical business standards and practices; committed to doing the right thing; and continually raising the bar for ethical business conduct and ways of working.” “Mike surpasses our members; stakeholders’ and our own expectations of being a leading responsible business in the Northwest.”
