Home MenuEmployment Process
Below is a generalized description of the employment process:
- Online applications are accepted for posted positions only through the closing date.*
- Once a position closes, Human Resources performs an initial qualification review and forwards viable applications to hiring officials.
- Hiring officials then review applications and select the most qualified applicants for an interview.
- Candidates selected for an interview will be contacted by Human Resources to schedule the interview.
- Candidates not selected for the initial round of interviews will receive a status update via email. Some candidates may be selected for hold status to be further considered if additional interviews are deemed necessary. Remaining candidates will be notified that hiring officials have decided to move forward in the process with other candidates.
- Top interview candidates are then selected for the reference check phase in which professional supervisory references will be contacted by Human Resources.
- Upon successful completion of professional supervisory reference checks, an offer of employment may be extended contingent on a successful background check (and DOT testing if applicable).
- Interview status applicants not selected will be notified by email when the position has been filled.
* In most cases, a few weeks may pass between the closing date of a position and application status update. Some positions generate significant numbers of applications so timeframes are approximate. We ask that you please be patient during this important process. The City is dedicated to thoroughly reviewing and considering all applications. If a position is listed as open until filled, online applications will be accepted until the position is closed.
