Who needs a business license?

Anyone engaging in business activities within the Wenatchee City limits is required to obtain a Wenatchee business license, whether or not a place of business is maintained within the City limits. Some exceptions apply to certain businesses as provided in WCC Section 5.76.090.

The City of Wenatchee transitioned its business licensing services over to Washington State Department of Revenue. The City no longer administers business license applications. Please go to DOR.WA.gov to apply for or renew a City of Wenatchee "endorsement". City licenses will appear as an endorsement on your State Business License. A SAW (Secure Access Washington) account will be needed to access this State website.

How do I obtain a business license for the City of Wenatchee?

You may apply for a City of Wenatchee business license by submitting an application at DOR.WA.gov with the required fee.

Commercially zoned businesses must receive the approval of the City's Fire, Community Development and Environmental Departments before a license will be issued (except renewals that have no change in ownership, locations or services provided). This process includes a walk-through inspection by the Building Division, (509) 888-3256. Once all of the necessary approvals are obtained, your business license will be approved through the Department of Revenue Business Licensing Service. Please allow at least 30 working days.

All businesses must meeting zoning requirements. Please contact the Department of Community Development at (509) 888-3256 if you have any questions.

Temporary License:

Effective October 3, 2019 Temporary Licenses are no longer available. Anyone doing business in the City of Wenatchee is required to obtain a regular business license. Vendors participating in multiple vendor events (i.e. Apple Blossom, festivals, trade shows) see below.

Multiple Vendor Event Business Licenses:

Sponsors of multiple vendor events such as Washington State Apple Blossom Festival, street fairs, and similar events, are required to apply for a master license on behalf of the event participants. All licensing information required for each individual event participant along with the proper fee ($50.00 for a 30-day license; $25.00 for a three-day license) shall be paid to the City Finance Department by the sponsor of the event at the time the Master Business License Application is submitted. Participants that already have a valid City Business License are not required to pay the temporary fee.
