Confluence Parkway Project Open House

Project update: City of Wenatchee to host open house on July 15 to share Confluence Parkway Project update

The City of Wenatchee will host an open house on July 15, 2024, from 5 -7 p.m. at the Wenatchee City Hall Council Chambers (301 Yakima Street). The open house will give community members the opportunity to learn about Confluence Parkway’s design and status. A brief presentation will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Confluence Parkway is part of Apple Capital Loop series of projects, which will provide an 11-mile transportation backbone to support the area’s growing population and economy. Confluence Parkway creates a new regional roadway connecting North Wenatchee communities between SR 285/North Wenatchee Avenue and US-2. The new route will provide congestion relief, improve safety, and enhance connections for vehicles, freight, bicycles, and pedestrians.

Confluence Parkway will be developed and built in phases over a period of years. The first phase (Phase 1) of the Project includes building new bridges that cross the BNSF Railway tracks at North Miller Street and McKittrick Street. A roundabout will be built connecting McKittrick, North Miller, Hawley streets, and Walla Walla Avenue. Phase 1 is funded through the City’s INFRA Grant and Move Ahead Washington dollars. Construction of Phase 1 is planned to begin in the spring of 2025 and be completed by the end of 2027.

Confluence Parkway’s future phases include building a new bridge across the Wenatchee River and expanding the roadway to connect with US-2. A portion of the Apple Capital Loop Trail will also be rebuilt as part of a future phase. Future phases will be advanced as funding becomes available.

The City is commencing its efforts to acquire the necessary right-of-way for Phase 1 and is working with property owners and other impacted parties. Right-of-way staff will be available at the open house to answer questions and provide information to potentially affected property owners.
